For the 13th WORLD BUFFALO CONGRESS
Total world food demand will increase by 35% to 56% between 2010 and 2050, according to FAO. How to produce enough food to eradicate hunger in the face of shrinking arable areas, climate change, and pressures on natural resources, while reducing the environmental impact of food production from its current levels, is the most important global challenge facing this and the next generation.
We are obliged to establish strategies that answer the question of how to produce and supply enough safe, nutritious, and sustainable food for a population expected to grow to 9 billion by 2050.
Water buffalo, an emerging species in the rest of the world apart from India, can contribute to a long-term global strategy towards more sustainable food production, where human needs for high nutritional protein quality products, such as dairy and meat products, are essential. As high-quality food producers, buffalo farmers are called to contribute to this global strategy.
That is why the Venezuelan Association of Buffalo Breeders, Criabúfalos, invites you to participate in the XIII World Buffalo Congress, where crucial issues related to sustainable food production using water buffalo will be discussed. During the congress, international experts will present the latest research and advances in buffalo management and production, as well as their potential to contribute to the solution of global food and environmental challenges.
The congress will be held November 22-24, 2023 in Caracas, Venezuela. We look forward to your presence to discuss and share ideas on how water buffalo can be an integral part of the global strategy to eradicate hunger and achieve more sustainable food production. We look forward to sharing our knowledge and collaborating in building a more sustainable and just future for all.
